LIVE DEMOWhat was built
VidPulse is a video-sharing platform designed for creators and viewers: seamless video uploads, real-time interaction, content discovery and a polished, responsive interface. Video is transcoded and streamed through Mux with automated captions; creators manage everything from an isolated Studio.
- 01Integrated a custom video player UI with full support for uploading, searching, and categorized browsing.
- 02Dedicated channel pages that allow users to manage their personal content, profile data, and upload workflows.
- 03Real-time engagement through optimized commenting and intuitive like/dislike systems.
- 04Mux player with automated caption generation and low-latency HLS streaming.
- 05Studio upload pipeline with drag-and-drop processing and automatic thumbnails from Mux.
Inside the build
The real areas of the product, as built — routes, screens and workflows, verified from the project's own code and README.
Discovery feed — /
Thumbnail grids with filter pillars: All, Education, Gaming, Comedy and more.
Watch page — /videos/[id]
Mux player, captions, upvote/downvote and social engagement.
Studio — /studio
Content inventory, drag-and-drop uploads and channel management.
Playlists & history
Curated folders, watch history and a trending feed.
Architecture
Next.js App Router — (root) consumer portal plus an isolated Studio
Mux Video API — cloud transcoding, thumbnails, captions and HLS streaming
Drizzle ORM + Neon — serverless PostgreSQL data layer
tRPC + React Query — type-safe APIs with client-side caching
Clerk — creator profile validation and Studio access control
UploadThing + Upstash Redis — uploads and rate limiting
Decisions & trade-offs
Mux over self-hosted video
Transcoding, thumbnails, captions and HLS streaming are delegated to Mux instead of building a video pipeline from scratch.
tRPC for type-safe APIs
Client and server share types end to end, so API changes break at compile time instead of at runtime.
Studio isolated from the consumer portal
Creator tools (content inventory, uploads) live in their own Studio layout with their own access checks.
Outcomes
- Live demo verified loading on 2 Nov 2026.
- Discovery feed, watch page, Studio, playlists, history and trending routes built.
No invented users, revenue or performance numbers are claimed here. What is listed above is what was built and verified.
What I would do differently
Fix the demo's page title — it still shows the Next.js default — and add proper metadata before sharing the link widely.
